African Food Security By Country List
Africa is the second largest continent, after Asia, and has 54 independent countries in it, all with varying sizes and shapes. Africa’s size is certainly more than 30m (30,221,000 sq km [11, 679, 000 sq miles]). It is probably correct to say that the misrepresentation Africa’s true size has caused more harm than good both for the peoples of Africa as well as for the entire world as this has continued to influence how food and security issues relating to African countries are being treated.

Vision
Because of the primary reason why AFS was established, our VISION seeks to continually explore, research and find the significant intersections between Food and Security on the continent of Africa, and to secure a self-sustained African continent in terms of food security.
So, AFS will always prioritize maximizing education and enlightenment campaign levels for the continent of Africa–from leadership to the people and vice versa–on the importance of finding lasting solutions to the challenges which result from the topic of Food and Security.
Mission
AFS aims to provide food security viability for Africa through multi-tiered consultations, collaborative research ,and pragmatic partnerships.
About Africa Food Security
Welcome again. Thanks for coming back. You should know that AFS is the right place to be as we speak. Where else would you rather be at a period in the history of our world when FOOD and SECURITY subjects dominate every other aspect of human existence.
…think about it this way…
Food is produced on farmlands, maybe not in government “white houses” in Africa. But then there are these other issues, religion, culture, corruption and bad government often fueled by avarice and power intoxicants. Add social instability to the list. Or say it as it now is: terrorism in Africa. Farmers are not able to carry out their daily activities of planting the food which the population needs. Consequently, grocery stores are not stocked with produce in which case, prizes of the limited available food items witness unannounced but predictable spike.
At best, the above only describes some connecting dots between the food and security phenomena.
Security
Although there are growing security challenges which countries around world are passing through, Africa is gradually becoming the epicenter of security issues. Some of these are related to the emergence of threats from terror networks operating around and in the continent.
Food
Currently Africa is experiencing serious problems related to food production and management. There are also concerns about a looming global food scarcity which is forcing countries with foresight to begin preparations in readiness for the Doomsday. Meanwhile African many African countries continue to live off the good will of foreign aids, despite the endowment of the continent with too-numerous-to-mention natural resources.
Consequently, the question is CAN Africa feed its population should the worst fear materialize today? The answer to the question is not an easy one, but it MUST require some right steps in the right direction, if Africa does not want to further a willful recolonization of her peoples because of impractical and poor leadership foresight. It is well-known that consumer countries are slaves to the producer countries. And any country which is not able to feed and cater to its internal needs is not done for, provided its population is a few hundred people from a few families maybe.
Although the challenges of food security for Africa will be properly handled alongside a serious commitment to democratic transitions, the new spates of violence being witnessed in regions on the continent make it really difficult to predict whether dictatorial rules across the clime would not have justifications to sit still in power.
