Because of the primary reason why AFS was established, our VISION seeks to continually explore, research and find the significant intersections between Food and Security on the continent of Africa, and to secure a self-sustained African continent in terms of food security.

So, AFS will always prioritize maximizing education and enlightenment campaign levels for the continent of Africa–from leadership to the people and vice versa–on the importance of finding lasting solutions to the challenges which result from the topic of Food and Security.

Security

Although there are growing security challenges which countries around world are passing through, Africa is gradually becoming the epicenter of security issues. Some of these are related to the emergence of threats from terror networks operating around and in the continent.

Food

Currently Africa is experiencing serious problems related to food production and management. There are also concerns about a looming global food scarcity which is forcing countries with foresight to begin preparations in readiness for the Doomsday. Meanwhile African many African countries continue to live off the good will of foreign aids, despite the endowment of the continent with too-numerous-to-mention natural resources.

Consequently, the question is CAN Africa feed its population should the worst fear materialize today? The answer to the question is not an easy one, but it MUST require some right steps in the right direction, if Africa does not want to further a willful recolonization of her peoples because of impractical and poor leadership foresight. It is well-known that consumer countries are slaves to the producer countries. And any country which is not able to feed and cater to its internal needs is not done for, provided its population is a few hundred people from a few families maybe.

Although the challenges of food security for Africa will be properly handled alongside a serious commitment to democratic transitions, the new spates of violence being witnessed in regions on the continent make it really difficult to predict whether dictatorial rules across the clime would not have justifications to sit still in power.
